Hello, and welcome! I’m Cara—a lifelong maker and unapologetic lover of quilts, yarn, fabric, and the stories woven into the things we make.
My creative life revolves primarily around quilting and knitting, with plenty of detours into sewing, embroidery, historical clothing, and other forms of textile art.
I’m especially drawn to the intersection of craft, history, and everyday life. A quilt isn’t just a collection of fabric and stitches; it’s a little piece of material culture. A knitted sweater carries the history of its construction, its fibers, its patterns, and the people who have made versions of it before us. I love both the satisfaction of making something with my hands and learning the history behind the making.
My background in history (BA 2004) and education (MAT 2023) has shaped the way I approach creative work. I believe good instruction should make people feel capable and excited to try something themselves. Whether I’m working through a quilt design, learning a new crafting technique, experimenting with a historical-inspired project, or sharing something I’ve discovered along the way, I want this space to encourage you to pick up your own needles, thread, or scissors and make something wonderful.
I’m particularly interested in developing quilting and knitting patterns, tutorials, and classes that combine clever and traditional design with approachable instruction. I’m still building that body of work, and I’m delighted to have you along for the process.
